Laughter
Laughter (2008) is a new body of work
examining facial expression. These images
present the viewer with an ambiguity,
which in turn opens up a dialogue and
asks questions of photographic ‘truth’.
In this series we see references drawn
extensively from scientific photography.
Each subject sits placed between profiling
mirrors and is photographed whilst
engaged in laughter. The image is made
at a point when the subjects are unable to
present themselves to the camera as they
would for a traditional photographic
portrait. Resulting in the documentation
of the human form as we rarely see it. |
